What is the difference between gel polish, UV polish, UV nail polish and Shellac? There is often confusion when it comes to the difference between all these product names. However, all these products belong to the same product category. This is a nail polish that only hardens under LED/UV light, i.e. it is not air-drying. In contrast to a classic nail polish, it impresses with a durability of several weeks.
How can I remove gel polish (= UV polish)? It’s very simple! Our special [gel polish remover] will help you. All you have to do is roughen the gel polish surface with a [coarse file], apply some gel polish remover to a [pad] and attach it firmly to the nail. After about 15 minutes, it can then be easily and gently removed from the natural nail using the special [Gel Polish Remover Tool].
Don’t want to use a remover? No problem! You can also carefully file off the gel polish. Remove all the color and air bubbles (if any). You can simply leave the remaining base coat on the nail. This is particularly gentle on the natural nail.
How can I avoid lifting? I have summarized some valuable tips for you here: Take enough time to prepare your natural nails: Thoroughly removing the cuticles is essential to ensure that your gel polish really does stay on your nail for a long time. No cuticle residue should be left on the nail plate.
Make sure that no gel polish ends up on the edges of your nails: Work in very thin layers and leave approx. 0.5 mm space between the gel polish and the edge of the nail. If some gel polish does end up in the nail edges, you can easily remove it with the practical [gel polish correction pen] before hardening.
Coat your nail tip: Make sure to coat your nail tip particularly well with each coat of gel polish. You can easily do this with the gel polish remnants that are still on the brush after application.
Ensure perfect curing: To ensure perfect curing of UV polishes, it is best to only apply them in very thin layers. Especially very dark or opaque colors. You should also check the output of your lamp regularly.
Match your gel polish base to your natural nails: Not every product suits every natural nail! If you have very soft, bendy or damaged natural nails, I recommend our extra stable [Power Base]. For natural nails with adhesion problems, I would use the [Rubber Base Gel].
Can I also use gel polish on my feet? Absolutely! You can easily use gel polish on your toenails too, so that your feet shine and are always ready for any occasion. There is even a special [gel polish pedi-base] for this. It has an antibacterial effect and gently brightens your nails.
Can I shape my nails with gel polish? Thanks to special builder-in-bottle base coats, yes you can. Here I can recommend our [Power Base Gel] or our [Rubber Base Gel]. Both base coats have a slightly thicker consistency and can not only be painted on, but also sculpted. Even natural [nail extensions] are possible. And the best thing? They are available in different colors!
Does the color look the same in real life as in the pictures? We make every effort to display the colors of our gel polishes as accurately as possible. However, the colors may differ slightly from the real color depending on the screen or display quality.
Proven tips for application
Gel polish manicures look seductively natural and definitely make you happy. Here are a few tips and tricks to help you enjoy them for longer: The right preparation is the key to success:
- 1. clean your hands thoroughly without using soap.
- 2. file your nails to the desired shape and length
- 3. apply a thin layer of cuticle remover to the cuticles on the nail plate and leave to work for approx. 1 minute
- 4. push back your cuticles using a cuticle pusher and remove them thoroughly.
- 5 Lightly buff your natural nail with the buffer or the even gentler buffer file.
- 6. thoroughly remove the filing dust from the nail with a nail brush.
- 7. now apply a wafer-thin layer of your desired primer and leave to air dry for approx. 1 minute.
TIP: If you have rather greasy or wet natural nails, you can put some Nail Prep – Clean & Dehydrate on a cell tablet and use it to clean your nail before applying your primer. This further increases the durability.
How to apply the gel polish correctly:
- 1. apply a thin layer of gel polish base to the nail as a primer. When applying, make sure to avoid the edges of the nail, but coat the tip of the nail well.
- 2. leave the layer to harden for 60 seconds in the UV/LED lamp or for 120 seconds in a UV lamp.
- 3. now you can apply your chosen gel polish color and then cure for 60 seconds in the UV/LED lamp or 120 seconds in the UV lamp.
- 4 Repeat this step if necessary.
- 5. apply a thin layer of gel polish top coat to seal.Again, cure this for 60 seconds in the UV/LED lamp or 120 seconds in the UV lamp.
- 6. if necessary, remove the sticky sweat layer of your gel polish modeling with the Gel Cleaner.
